Harlandale ISD was one of eight school districts that competed in the second annual Alamo City Electrathon (ACE) Race at Traders Village on May 25.
The Engineering Venom Crew at STEM ECHS had to work together to build single passenger electric powered cars using 73 pounds of lead acid batteries.
This year, the race expanded to two classes – stock and open – with each vehicle racing in two heats. The 60-minute heats were held on a closed course loop to see who could run the most laps using only 1,000 Watts-hours of electricity.
The race is sponsored by the South San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas, CPS Energy and Whataburger to raise awareness supporting STEM education programs and workforce development
Way to go, STEM ECHS!
