Stonewall Flanders enjoys Literacy Night

The fun in reading and writing came to life at Stonewall Flanders’ Literacy Night on Oct. 5.

Students and parents packed the library and the cafeteria to take part in hands-on activities that promoted the art of literacy. Every child that attended received a free book.

“We focused on the Daily 5 components,” Stonewall Flanders Principal Dr. Smith explained. “Read to Self, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, Writing and Word Work.”

The special event was completely teacher driven as more than 25 staff were present to support the more than 100 attendees interested in enhancing their literacy skills.

Way to go, Stonewall Flanders!
