HISD kicks off 2019 United Way Combined Charitable Campaign

Harlandale ISD invites all employees to participate in the 2019 United Way Combined School District Charitable Campaign beginning on Sept. 23 and ending on Oct. 11.

United Way is a worldwide program which focuses on helping people with basic needs from food and clothing to shelter and safety – all while engaging the community to get to the heart of the problems. This year’s theme is “Serving Our Vibrant Community.”

In San Antonio, United Way is committed to improving early care and education for children, helping students succeed in school and strengthening families.

Harlandale ISD employees will have the opportunity to donate and contribute to numerous local organization and nonprofit charities including the San Antonio Education Partnership, Restore Education, AVANCE – San Antonio, Inc. and Child Advocates San Antonio.

Last year, more than 2,150 Harlandale ISD employees participated and contributed a total of $56,814. Altogether, Harlandale ISD had more than 62 percent participation.

A special mention went out to Wright Elementary School for having 100 percent participation seven years in a row!

The goal of the combined charitable campaign is to support United Way’s mission to help change people’s lives.
