Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year!
It has been a privilege to be an English teacher at McCollum High School for the past 24 years and the department chair of a hardworking, creative, and enthusiastic group of teachers.
Growing up on the south side of San Antonio, I've actually been a part of Harlandale ISD since I was 6 years old: starting kindergarten at Bellaire Elementary, middle school at Terrell Wells, and graduating from McCollum in 1989. I love being a Cowboy! God willing, I will be able to retire from the only school I've ever really known.
While in school, I remember my awesome ELAR teachers most: Mrs. Hilda Rodriguez, Mrs. Sandy Price, and Mrs. Linda Davis. They were my inspiration and the reason I love reading and writing! When studying at St. Mary’s University, I took a detour from English and majored in business marketing instead. After graduating with a B.B.A., I knew I wasn’t made for the business world (though I loved the research aspect), so I returned to St.Mary's to follow my passion and finished my literature and education courses.
I absolutely love teaching because no two years, no two days, and no two students are ever the same.
When I am not at school, I spend my time surrounded by everyone and everything I love!
