DYSLEXIA
dys-difficulty lexia-with words
Harlandale ISD Dyslexia services are designed to support students who meet the district criteria for this reading intervention. Services are offered at every campus to students who qualify in kindergarten through grade 12. Services provide students the strategies and skills to break the code of reading focusing on phonological awareness and phonics, which improves reading fluency, which ultimately improves reading comprehension. Students are in instructed by teachers using the Reading by Design program in English and the Esperanza program in Spanish. Both programs are a multisensory approach aligned with research-based practices for developing literacy.
