Ms. Avalos

Hello! Welcome to my page!

First off, thank you for entrusting me with the awesome privilege of being your little one’s teacher. I respect and appreciate any uneasiness or hesitation you may have as we begin a new school year full of changes and unknowns due to Covid-19. I appreciate your faith and trust in us as we face these new changes in education together. Please know that I do not take our teaching responsibility lightly. I will work tirelessly to help your child achieve success whether we are sharing a classroom together or we are learning together remotely. I believe that, given the right conditions, every child can excel and succeed. With your help and support, we can provide an optimal learning experience for them this year.

I am Ms. Avalos and this is my 5th wonderful year with Harlandale Independent School District and Collier Elementary. I have the pleasure of being this year's 3rd grade math teacher and the 3rd grade lead teacher. I was born in Norwalk California, but got to Texas as soon as I could and have loved every minute of it. I graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station back in 2013.

I really found my calling when I became a teacher. No other career has ever challanged, rewarded, and helped me better my community quite like being a teacher has. My area of focus this year is math! I want my students to leave my classroom more confident in their math abilities, their reasoning, and better off from where they started.

As I always tell my students, "we are striving for progress, not perfection," and I cannot wait to strive towards progress and growth with our students this school year.
