Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Patrick Schultz

I studied music education at the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in Appleton, WI and received my Bachelor of Music in Education degree in 1984.  My Master of Arts degree was in Jazz Composition from the University of Denver, where I was the Graduate Teaching Assistant in Jazz Studies from 1984-1986.  I began teaching bands in Solvang, CA in 1987.  In 1990 I created the first-ever parochial school band program in Santa Barbara, which continues to this day.

About Me:
I was born and raised in Wisconsin.  During graduate school I lived in Colorado for 2 years, then California for 10 years, and I’ve been in Texas since 1996.   I’ve been married for 14 years and have 2 sons, ages 12 and 9.  My wife is a hair stylist.  For fun, I enjoy most sports, including golf, basketball, and baseball, traveling and camping, as well as playing and listening to music . . . none of which I have time for anymore!

I’ve been teaching music for a total of 27 years:  9 years in Santa Barbara, 5 years in Texas as a band director, and now 13 years here at Schulze Elementary.  For a 7 year period from 2001 -2008 I left band directing and worked full-time in finance, helping families save money and get out of debt.  I obtained licenses in insurance, mortgages and investments, which I still maintain today.
