Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Roger Hoover
Hello, I am one of the Health Science teachers at McCollum. I have taught at McCollum for twenty-one plus years. I am originally from a small town near Dayton, Ohio. I joined the Air Force in 1977 and retired from the Air Force in 1999. My medical background comes from my job in the Air Force, which was working in the clinical laboratory. I earned three degrees while in the service; an Associate’s of Applied Science (clinical laboratory); a Bachelor's of Applied Science (clinical laboratory); and a Master's Science Interdisciplinary Studies; as well as certification in the clinical laboratory (ASCP) and certification to teach Health Science Technology Education for high school. The United States Air Force brought me to live in San Antonio in 1989 and I have continued to reside there and immediately began teaching at McCollum High School when I retired from the service. Though I married later in life than most people, I am blessed to have found and married my ideal sweetheart. Lorraine and I met at McCollum High School and we both still teach there. We have shared 18 blissful years of marriage together and though we do not have any children we do have ten cats counting our indoor cats plus the ones we feed that are outdoor only. I have a passion for sharing my knowledge and experiences in the field of medicine and enjoy guiding students into the health career field of their choosing.
