Mr. Omar Riojas
Welcome to the 21-22 school year. My name is Omar Riojas and I’m excited to be teaching Health Science this year. I look forward to an exciting new year with you. Let me tell you a little about myself. This is my third year teaching at Mccollum High School. I am an Army veteran a Husband and a father of three. I spent 23 years in the Army as a combat medic, during that time I earned many medical qualifications including my EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) license, CPR instructor license, and many others. I was deployed to Kuwait once and to Iraq 3 times. I will use these unique experiences, perspectives, and knowledge to help my students better understand the impact they can have in the Healthcare industry. We are at a distinctive and pivotal moment in history with so much focus on healthcare issues including COVID, Affordable Healthcare, and so much more. I will try to relate current important events and how these events will continue to shape and impact their daily lives, what kind of opportunities these events created in their lives. I will use this as a guiding principle as I strive to teach them the skills and knowledge needed in a future healthcare career and so that they can make a difference for so many. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions comments or concerns you may have.
(As a parent with two kids in school and one in college I understand the challenges of trying to balance school, work, extracurricular activities/clubs, and sports while maintaining my schedule. I know many of you have similar challenges, concerns, and unique situations due to the COVID pandemic. I am here as a resource for you. Please don't hesitate to let me know how I can help your student succeed. While I may not have all the right answers right away, I will always do my best to help you find the best solutions.)
