Do boundary (attendance zone) changes apply to all students?
The boundary changes affect elementary schools.
Boundaries for middle school and high school remain unchanged.

Where can if find the changes to boundaries?
Final files from demographers including a map of the new boundaries as well as any changes will be available on line once the information is received. Our goal is to have the file available on our district website by May 12, 2023.

When will I be notified of my assigned campus?
We are currently working with demographers. Notices went out to families Wednesday May 10, 2023.

Can I transfer schools starting now?
Students are expected to remain at their home campus and end the school year at this current campus.

What factors were considered in determining boundary changes?
Harlandale ISD contracted with demographers to determine boundary changes. The following parameters were taken into consideration:
· Campus growth or decline projections
· Campus capacity
· Feeder patterns
· Community unity
· Safety of students - main streets
· Geographic proximity - transportation

The boundary changes affect elementary schools. In most cases, students are not affected.

My child has been at their school since kindergarten and is in the 4th grade. Will he have to move schools in 23-24?
No, students in Kinder - 4th grade with established enrollment will be grandfathered and allowed to remain at the campus.
This district will have a separate process to document the situation for coding purposes which will be shared with families for consent and acknowledgement.
All students at repurposed schools (Collier, Columbia Heights, Morrill, Rayburn) will be assigned to a new campus.
All transfer requests (W) forms for repurposed schools are due by June 8, 2023.
All transfer requests (B) forms for boundary change students are due by June 8, 2023.
Students requesting to attend a campus they are not zoned to must complete the appropriate W or B in-district transfer form.
Repurposed Campuses Only
Students who were previously enrolled at repurposed schools (Columbia Heights, Rayburn, Morrill, and Carroll Bell) will have priority for in-district transfers using a W In-District Transfer Form.
Currently enrolled In-district and out of district transfers may also stay at their campus provided they have met all conditions of their enrollment to continue their enrollment at the campus.

Am I guaranteed a slot at the campus I wish to attend?
For all transfers, decisions will be based on availability at the receiving campuses.
At this time, , in-district transfers will be accepted at Collier, Stonewall Flanders, Gillette, Schulze, Bellaire, Vestal, and Wright.
Adams, Gilbert, Bellaire are at/near capacity and transfer requests will be extremely limited.
Their approval will be guaranteed pending availability. However, the counts per classroom will determine approval due to limited space.

Will my child be overloaded if the school I select is capped?
This may occur depending on enrollment per grade level in a class.

What if the campus I want to attend does not approve my transfer?
Boundary change students are able to be grandfathered to their current campus for one year. These are subject to review and nonrenewal after one year.
For repurposed campuses, approval is guaranteed.

When I submit my application for in district transfer (other than repurposed campus transfer and boundary change transfer) to the requested campus for signature, do I still attach my child’s attendance report, report card and discipline record for review?
All required documentation must be submitted.

If a campus is closed to transfers, would the current tuition and TEA students be able to remain?
Yes, this would fall under the grandfather clause for currently enrolled students only. All new transfers from out of district are subject to a waiting period under a TEA and Tuition Contracts for elementary campus.

What is the deadline for in-district transfers?
Only students at repurposed campuses and existing transfer students will be allowed to until June 8, 2023.
After that deadline, In-district transfers will not be approved until the week of August 29, 2023 with potential start dates of September 7, 2023.

Where does the family turn in the transfer to? Who and where?
All forms are turned in at the campus requested for 23/24 school year.
All TEA and Tuition Contracts will need to be approved by Special Education Director if student is in special program.

Can my in-district transfer be revoked?
Yes, failure to meet the conditions of the contract could result in a transfer being revoked.
Transportation

If I am grandfathered to stay at current campus, can my younger sibling attend in KG? What about my cousin that moved in on an AOR? Will we both be bused or just me?
Transportation will be provided if the students meet the guidelines for HISD bus service.

Who qualifies for transportation?
Students who qualify for transportation must follow the approved guidelines for HISD bus service. The guidelines are: 1) Reside more than 2 miles from the campus 2) Cross a hazardous railway crossing or creek without bridges and 3) Enrolled in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade.

If I am grandfathered to stay at Wright ES but my new boundaries are having me attend a new school, will I be provided transportation?
Transportation will be provided if the students meet the guidelines for HISD bus service.
