Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Kasandra Ruiz
Welcome to my page!
I am so happy that you are here. My name is Ms. Ruiz and I am part of our amazing first grade team. My journey as a teacher began five years ago, here at Collier, and I have enjoyed every moment of it. I love the community and history Harlandale has formed over the years. Although I am not a Indian or a Cowboy, I am a proud Southwest Dragon.
Growing up in a small community, like Southwest, made my transition into the Harlandale family a whole lot easier. It feels like home. Prior to making my way to Harlandale ISD, I did move away. I lived in Austin for four years where I received my bachelors degree from The University of Texas (hook 'em). I am a huge Texas fan and you can definitely tell that I am not an Aggie based off my classroom decorations. In the fall, I spend my Saturday's watching Texas football with family and friends. When football season is over, I take off my burnt orange clothing and trade it in for a Spurs jersey (GO SPURS GO!). I also enjoy running, journaling, DIY crafts, and spending time with loved ones on my free time.
As a teacher, I strongly believe working together is better, especially during the time we are in. My goal as a teacher is to make my classroom a safe place for my kids to learn and grow. A place where mistakes can be made and mistakes can be turned into lessons. I enjoy what I do. Every year I learn something new, whether it is from professional development, collaboration with co-workers, or even from my students, the learning never stops.
I am excited to work with my first grade babies this year. Although this year is going to look different, I know there will be good that will come out of these unprecedented times when we work hand in hand (6Ft apart of course). #TogetherIsBetter
