Afterschool Centers of Education (ACE)

Texas ACE 21st Century, provided through Harlandale ISD in partnership with Communities In Schools of San Antonio and the Boys & Girls Club of San Antonio, is a grant-funded program that provides before & after-school academic support, college & workforce readiness, and family engagement opportunities for students who qualify.

ACE after school programs offer an opportunity for students in grades K-12 to continue to learn new skills and discover new abilities after the normal school day has ended. Both programs focus on providing expanded academic enrichment opportunities such as:

  • Homework assistance and academic focused lessons to help children meet state and local academic achievement standards in core subjects such as reading, mathematics, science and social studies.

  • Additional activities such as youth development, violence prevention, fine arts, technology, recreation, physical education, health, wellness and nutrition programs, college and career exploration, as well as
educational programs that are designed to reinforce and enhance the regular academic program.

  • Offer family opportunities for literacy, parenting and related development programs, exposure to civic and community service projects and an opportunity to participate in their children’s academic and social development.

HISD Extended Day programs will follow the Harlandale ISD academic calendar. Program will not operate during school district holidays, teacher in-service days, early release days or school closures due to inclement weather or other unforeseen emergency situations.
