We know that we are living in very uncertain times, but we want to remind you that we are here to support one another. Our promise to you since this pandemic began was to keep you informed about changes that affect HISD and we plan on keeping that promise.
Despite recent news about funding we want to be clear with you that our mission to provide the highest level of education here at Harlandale still stands and will always be our priority. As of today, Thursday July 30, 2020, HISD plans for going back to school for the school year 20-21 have not changed since we last communicated with you.
Our first day of school is August 24 and as previously announced the first 4 weeks of school will be completely virtual. Beginning August 17, parents will be required to complete a survey indicating their choice for in person or remote instruction for when schools are able to open their doors for classroom instruction again. Like we mentioned in the past, after the first 4 weeks the school board will make an assessment and decide if they need to apply to the TEA to extend virtual learning for another 4 weeks.
Each campus will communicate directly with their parents and students in order to let them know about device pick-up and any other information that pertains to the process of beginning the school year.
Please know that we are monitoring the COVID-19 situation on a daily basis and we are taking every precaution necessary to maintain a safe work and learning environment.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact your campus directly starting August 3, 2020 from 8:00 am. - 4:30 p.m. or contact us through our Facebook page Harlandale ISD Family or by emailing our Public Information Officer at email@example.com
