HISD COACH RAISES OVER $2K FOR SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE
SAN ANTONIO – August 31, 2020 HISD COACH RAISES OVER $2K FOR SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE
Leal Middle School coach, Margie Garcia, raised over $2,000 in support of Communities in School (CIS) Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive and won the 96.1 NOW “Toss the Teacher Challenge.”
The CIS Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive provides school supplies to elementary-high school students in over one hundred schools in twelve school districts. It is one of the largest in the city and aims to equip under-served families with the tools needed for success.
In competition with teachers across San Antonio, Ms. Garcia raised the highest amount of $2,191.25 for the Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive. As the winner of the “Toss the Teacher Challenge” she was awarded a sky-diving experience and $1,000 for her classroom to kick off the school year.
“CIS has helped our students with anything they possibly can to assure a successful school experience. I have seen this organization help with school supplies, clothing, hygiene products and valuable counseling to help empower our youth. I feel our families are going to need this help more than ever during this pandemic,” Ms. Garcia said. “Every dollar counts! Especially if it will help someone who needs it.”
Communities in Schools annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive has benefited students throughout San Antonio for over twenty years.
