New Working from Home Measures per Superintendent Soto

June 27, 2020

Dear Harlandale ISD Staff,

As many of you are aware the cases of COVID-19 in our city are on the rise. City officials have issued emergency alerts to let the residents know that it is of utmost importance to stay at home and obey public health advice.

Your safety is our number one priority. Effective Monday, June 29, HISD will ask all employees to work from home unless they are considered essential staff. If you are working from home, you are expected to be available by phone during business hours, to check emails several times a day, and be connected to the internet. Cabinet members and individuals assisting with essential functions will be expected to report to work. Your cabinet supervisor will notify you if you need to report to work. All other staff must have permission from a cabinet member to enter any HISD building.

All individuals inside HISD buildings must respect social distancing, wear a face mask/covering when in public areas, eat in isolation, and utilize the phone or electronic conferencing to communicate with each other.

Meal distribution for students will continue throughout the summer and custodial staff will also be present in the buildings to continue with the sanitation process. We will monitor the situation and keep you updated with any changes as soon as new information is presented.

We ask that you please obey all ordinances and protect yourself and your families. If you have been in contact with someone that has tested positive for COVID-19 or you have any symptoms related to the virus we ask that you seek medical attention and let your supervisor know as soon as possible.

Again, your health is our priority so we ask that you do your part to keep everyone at Harlandale ISD healthy and safe.

Gerardo Soto

Superintendent of Schools, Harlandale ISD
