We want your feedback

Harlandale ISD Families, Staff and Community Members,

In light of recent discussions by the City of San Antonio regarding the timing of local elections, the Harlandale ISD School Board has begun discussing the timing of future school board elections.

Currently, school board elections are held in May of odd-numbered years. The Board is exploring whether to transition these elections to November of odd or even-numbered years, or May of even-numbered years, aligning with city and other local elections being considered across San Antonio.

At this time, no decision has been made. The purpose of this discussion is to better understand the potential benefits and considerations of such a change, including how a transition could temporarily affect current Trustee terms. The options available to the District are limited, and a transition may require temporarily extending current trustee terms by six months or up to one year.

This is not a decision that was initiated independently, but rather one the District is working through to remain consistent with evolving requirements and local alignment.

Community input is an important part of this process. The Harlandale ISD School Board has discussed this topic during recent board meetings and work sessions and will continue to gather feedback before considering action by the end of the 2025-2026 School Year.

We encourage you to share your input as we work through this process. Updates, board meeting dates and additional information will be shared on the District website, and additional outreach will be provided to ensure our community is aware.
