The winners of the math Halloween Estimation contest were announced on October 29th at Gillette Elementary. The student whose estimation was closest to the contents of the jar of candies won the jar. Here is a list of the winners:
Pre-Kinder -Ring Pops: Isabella Diaz (Rodriguez HR), Oberline Gomez-Molina (Rodriguez HR), and Adley Johnson (Gamboa HR). Each student estimated 14 ring pops were in the jar. Actual number was 14.
Kinder - Starbursts: Kendra Santos (Dominguez HR), Riley Paredes (Sanchez HR), David Flores (Vargas HR), and Josiah Bermudes (Calderon HR). Each student estimated 50 Starburst in the jar. Actual number was 58.
1st Grade - Dum Dum Lollipops: Zoey Allen (Longoria HR). Zoey estimated 70 Dum Dums in the jar and the actual number was 72.
2nd Grade - Bubble Gum: Noah Anzaldua (Acuna HR) and Arely Cervantes (Estrada HR). Both students estimated 60 bubble gums in the jar. Actual number was 70.
3rd Grade - Jolly Ranchers: Fabian Saucedo (Villarreal HR). Fabian estimated 135 Jolly Ranchers and there were 138 in the jar.
4th Grade-Skittles: Eleanor Casanova (Tello HR). Eleanor estimated 628 Skittles were in the jar and the actual number was 650.
5th Grade- M&Ms: Isabella Velazquez estimated 1, 128 M&Ms were in the jar and there were 1, 202 in the jar.
