Gillette Elementary invited veterans from our community to celebrate and remember Veterans' Day 2025 with our administrators, staff, students, and parents. The ceremony began with the presentation of colors by members of the Harlandale High School ROTC followed by the Pledge to the Flag, the Texas Pledge, and the singing of The National Anthem. The Gillette Spurs Choir offered other patriotic songs and Isabella Velazquez recited the poem "In Flanders Field". Bella Cardenas explained the meaning of the poppy flowers that represent Veterans' Day. The guest speaker for the celebration was T. Sgt. Wiley Moore USAF, who spoke on "Be Proactive, Reach Out to One Another and Rest Assured We Are All Family". The ceremony ended with Dr. Leonardo Zepeda, Jr. playing TAPS.
