School Yo-Yo Sale - Our school received the assembly from NED'S Resiliency Ride at no cost because another school paid-it-forward to us. We want to help pay-it-forward too, and you can help by purchasing a NED messaged yo-yo. See the school flyer sent home for more information. Mrs. Barrios, our counselor, will be selling the yo-yos from March 26 - April 4 before and after school in the cafeteria. Cost for yo-yos is $6 to $18.
Gillette will be offering Fun Fridays to students that are present Monday - Friday on each of the remaining weeks of the school year. Every Friday a reward will be offered to those students with perfect attendance for the week. Attendance will be recorded at 9:50 a.m. each morning. Dates for the Fun Fridays are March 21, March 28, April 4, April 9, April 17, April 25 (K-2 & 5th), April 28 (3, 4, & ALE for the week of 4/22 - 4/25), May 1, May 9, May 16. ALL students present on May 27, May 28, and May 29 will participate on a Fun Day each of those days. Be present each day and enjoy the FUN on FRIDAYS!
Pre-Kinder Roundup at Gillette Elementary takes place on Thursday, March 20th from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Read Across America week will be celebrated at Gillette during the week of March 3rd - 7th. Celebrate by reading your favorite Dr. Seuss books!
Gillette Elementary would like to thank Project Help for donating hygiene bags to our 4th and 5th grade students. The contents were offered to the students to help them stay healthy and learn about growing with good health habits.
Reminder to parents of Spurs Choir students. There is no after-school choir practice after school today (Wednesday, Feb. 19th) due to required training for all teachers. Please pick up your student(s) at the regular 3:25 p.m. dismissal time.

This year's theme, "Mosaic of Cultures | Mosaico de Culturas," was inspired by 1st grade student Bradley Gonzales. Whether it’s a construction paper mosaic, painted tiles, or even photography, encourage your child to get creative and submit their artwork.

Harlandale ISD was honored to host the NCAA Final Four TipOff Press Conference at The Rayburn Clubhouse this week, where city and NCAA leaders came together to discuss the impact this tournament will have in our city. During the special media event, they also gave a shoutout to our Gillette Elementary students who are currently competing in the NCAA Read to the Final Four Challenge! We’re excited to be part of something special that brings together sports, education, and community!
