Last week we had some visitors come by to read to one of our second grade classes. Thank you to the Harlandale High School football team for showing our students how important it is to READ!

We celebrated Read Across America Week early with fun dress up days all last week. Then, on Friday, we hosted a group from CPS Energy who came and read to our Kinder, 1st, and 2nd graders. They also brought literacy bags filled with books for each of our students! As an added bonus, we even got to see one of our former Adams teachers who is now working for CPS! Thank you to CIS for organizing this event!

Wednesday, March 5 is class picture day. Come dressed to impress with your winning smile!

Tomorrow, March 4th, we will be having District Benchmark testing for all 3rd - 5th grade students. We will be using this test to practice our STAAR procedures. Please make sure your child is here on time.

This Friday, March 7th, will be our Adams Field Day for Kinder - 5th grade! We prefer conducting Field Day in March since it's a lot cooler for our students than in the hot summer days. We will be utilizing the following areas of the school on that day: the gym, courtyard, back parking lot, field out by the track, and the library. That morning we will have the back parking lot closed off to set up our Field Day activities. You may still drop off your child in the back parking area that morning, but you will only be able to use the drive thru for drop off.
As per our principal, Mrs. Holtermann, for safety reasons, the campus will be closed to parents and families for Field Day due to students traveling in and out of the building. Again, this is for the safety of your child. As mentioned, the back parking lot is being used for Field Day, and the safety of our students is always our top priority. We will have our officer stationed in the back parking lot, along with 3 other teachers during our Field Day activities. Coach Alonzo will also be rotating between all areas making sure everything is going well. Again, the safety of your child is very important to us. Please make sure they come ready to be active and have a fun Field Day.
If you have questions, please reach out to Coach Alonzo at david.alonzo@myhisd.net.
