Mrs. Castillo’s NJHS Club at Leal Middle School is inviting our families to join us in making a difference! From January 20–30, students will be collecting plastic caps as part of a campus-wide competition.
🧢 How you can help:
Send plastic caps with your student (water bottles, soda bottles, detergent caps, etc.).
Caps will be collected through 1st period classes.
The class that collects the most caps will earn a breakfast taco party!
🌍 Why it matters:
All caps collected by Mrs. Castillo are personally delivered to a drop-off location in Coahuila, Mexico, where they are recycled to help children battling cancer. Every 5-pound bucket of caps equals one chemotherapy session for a child in need.
Thank you for supporting our students and partnering with NJHS to turn small actions into a big impact! 💙

Congratulations to Mrs. Angelica Castillo, a proud Leal alumna and Texas History Dual Language teacher, now in her 7th year at Leal Middle School. Her passion for teaching history goes beyond the classroom, encouraging students to honor their heritage and understand their role in the future.
“Teaching in the community that raised me is a reminder that our history shapes who we are and who we can become, I want to do for my students what my teachers once did for me” she shares.
Thank you for your heart, dedication, and commitment to Leal students. 📚💙
