We are thrilled to announce that our Board Member, Mr. Moreno, generously donated Spurs tickets to our campus, which we decided to use as a reward for perfect attendance! Students who maintained perfect attendance from August 12th through February 14th were entered into a raffle for the chance to win. We're excited to share that Lillian Gonzales was the lucky winner! Lillian, an 8th-grade Lady Apache, has already excelled in volleyball, basketball, and soccer this school year, and she is also an A-B Honor Roll student. We are incredibly proud of Lillian for her dedication to showing up to school every day. We hope you had an unforgettable time! A heartfelt thank you once again to Mr. Moreno for his generous donation!

Our Engineering students from Mr. Garcia's class put in some work last Friday!!! #latepost Special shout outs go to Aaleyah Hernandez and Clara Martinez on taking the "Judges Favorite" award for their engineering project- Strong House, a disaster resistant home design. Their prototype was hands down the judges favorite. Jayden Rodriguez took the Best Presentation award at the HISD Engineering Fair. Jayden impressed the judges during his five rounds of judging where his knowledge and presentation impressed all the judges. Jayden's lightweight prototype was built out of bamboo skewers, cardboard and glue to hold over 25 pounds of weight. The judges were impressed with his well-designed structure. Great job, Apaches! We are so proud of you!!!

Our 3 Apache teams battled it out against the 3 HMS teams today at our HISD Book Battle Royale! We are proud to say that we brought back home our first place trophy! 🥇🙌🏽 Our other two teams fought hard, and landed in 4th and 6th place. We just have to say that between each team of 4 students they read 20 books, studied, worked hard, worked together and most importantly they stuck out the program from August-February. We are beyond proud of our Apaches! Next up for them is reading to prep for our field trip! 🥰

NJHS would like to congratulate some of our amazing teachers that have been awarded teacher of the week. Mrs. Reinaas has been a pillar to our school for many years. She is our 8th grade US history teacher as well as a department chair. She is always looking for ways to engage her students so that our history is not a thing of the past. Thank you Mrs. Reinaas for always pushing our kids to not only be the best students for our school, but also the best citizens for our community Another shining star among our teachers is Mrs. Martinez, we are so thankful to have her join our campus this year. This is her first year with us here at Leal, but she has hit the ground running, pushing our kids inside and outside the classroom. Not only does she teach ELA but she coaches basketball and she helps with our Book Club. We are so Thankful for all your support

NJHS would like to congratulate some of the teachers that have been awarded teacher of the week in the month of January. Ms. Guerra has been a valuable asset to our school. Not only is she a wonderful social studies teacher that works hard to create engaging lessons for her students but she also sponsors the Student Council club. One of her recent contributions have been her attendance incentives where she creates fun games and incentives to get students excited to come to school. 6th grade would not be the same without you Ms. Guerra Another teacher we would like to congratulate is Mr. Perez. He has been a Pilar of our fine arts department. He consistently goes above and beyond for his students. Last week was eventful as he dedicated his time to prepare for the 5th grade symposium to show the incoming apaches the wonderful band and choir program here at leal. Thank you for your commitment and passion, your work does not go unnoticed!
