April 7-11 marks Gifted and Talented Awareness Week! We are proud to recognize and celebrate the unique talents of our GT students. Shoutout to our educators and families who support and inspire them every day! #HarlandaleLegacy

A couple of our schools found creative ways to motivate students as they gear up for STAAR testing. At Harlandale Middle School, students, staff and parents teamed up to create motivational posters that now hang throughout the campus, encouraging students to do their best! Then at Gilbert Elementary, students from all grades participated in a spirited pep rally. Even our Harlandale High School cheerleaders and football players joined in to show their support and cheer on the younger students. Please join us in encouraging all of our Harlandale ISD students who have worked hard preparing for the STAAR test. #HarlandaleLegacy

Today is National Librarian Appreciation Day, and here at Harlandale ISD, we are proud to recognize the incredible librarians across our district. Thank you for fostering a love of reading, supporting student learning and helping our campuses thrive every day. #HarlandaleLegacy

Join us in congratulating our incredible Harlandale High_HISD students for earning nominations for Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Picture—and for taking home the award for Best Sound at this year's BexarFest! Their hard work and creativity brought the mission of San Antonio Dance to life, showcasing the power of storytelling through media. Our award-winning team includes Kristen Jude Martinez, Syrus Flores, Juan Escoto and Jose Muñoz and is led by their teacher Michael Cantu. We could not be prouder of these talented students. McCollum's game against Southsan has been moved. The Varsity game will now take place this Friday, April 4 at 5:00 PM at Southsan; and JV will take place on Saturday, April 5 at 11:00 AM at Southsan. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope to see you there to cheer on our students!

Registration Now Open for Challenge to ASPIRE Summer Camps! Texas A&M University-San Antonio is now accepting registrations for the Challenge to ASPIRE summer camps, designed for elementary (rising 3rd-5th graders) and middle school (rising 6th-8th graders) students. Open to all ASPIRE elementary and middle school students, these camps offer hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. Campers will take part in daily sessions and challenges led by A&M-San Antonio faculty, local museums, and national research organizations. Harlandrone: The Ultimate Indoor Drone Challenge! Students from across Harlandale ISD took over the JWC Makerspace for a one-of-a-kind drone competition that put their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test. From navigating obstacles and cracking puzzles to competing in a trivia showdown and testing their drone knowledge, our K-8 students were all in. They even got a glimpse into drone licensing and Virtual Reality games! Thank you to our students, staff and organizers for making Harlandrone an unforgettable experience. #HarlandaleLegacy

Our talented student actors recently brought "Cyrano de Bergerac" by Edmond Rostand to life in a captivating one-act performance, showcasing their dedication, passion, and incredible storytelling skills. Congratulations to all our 3rd-5th grade students who competed in this year’s Battle of the Books! After reading 20 books from the Texas Bluebonnet list, teams from across Harlandale ISD faced off in a fast-paced trivia showdown. The top three teams—separated by just one point—are heading to the City Wide Battle of the Bluebonnets: Wright Elementary – 67 points Stonewall Flanders Elementary – 68 points Gilbert Elementary – 69 points Thank you to our students, teachers and librarians for making this event possible. Your love for reading continues to shine! Come cheer on our champions at the City Battle at Sam Rayburn Middle School (1400 Cedarhurst Dr.) on Saturday, May 10 at 9:30 AM. #HarlandaleLegacy

That’s a wrap on our 2025 Cultural Arts Fair & Parade! We want to thank every single one of you who attended, participated and helped bring this amazing Harlandale ISD tradition to life once more. From the incredible parade, to the performances, super fun games and delicious food, this event once again brought our community together to celebrate the Mosaic of Cultures that can only be found right here.
