During the 89th Texas Legislative Session, Governor Greg Abbott signed House Bill 1481 into law. This law limits student use of personal communication devices— including cell phones, smartwatches and headphones— during the instructional day at all Texas public schools.
Harlandale ISD will enforce these state-mandated guidelines at the start of the 2025–26 school year. Families are encouraged to talk with their child about the new expectations and how to be prepared for the first day of school.

Our 2025 Back to School Bash is coming soon! Swing by Harlandale Memorial Stadium on Saturday, August 9 from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM for free school supplies, immunizations, or a free haircut, courtesy of our skilled Harlandale ISD Barbering students!
This week, a group of determined students attended our Drone Boot Camp at the JWC Makerspace Center.
By getting a head start on their Drone Licensing Program, these students are fast-tracking their way toward completing the course and will be able to take their FAA Part 107 License test earlier than expected.
Join us in commending these students for their drive and focus—can’t wait to see where this journey takes them!

Also recognized was Mr. Ricardo Moreno for his years of service as School Board Trustee. We wish him the best of luck as he begins his next chapter!

• Kayden Contreras, a rising 1st grader, is headed this week to Louisiana for the South Zone Baseball 6U World Series South Regional.
• Kylie Johnson, a Schulze student going into 5th grade, took 1st place in the South Zone Softball World Series this past week in Louisiana.
