Did you know that our city will be hosting the 2025 NCAA Men’s Final Four Championship this year? Our 3rd grade students have been participating in a reading challenge tied to the Final Four, but the city also has lots of fun events planned throughout the year to help generate excitement in advance of the championship, set for April 4--7, 2025 at the Alamodome. This weekend is the Holiday Fan Jam on Saturday, December 14 2:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Travis Park downtown. Fan Jam is a mobile pop-up event in a truck. Whether you're a basketball enthusiast or a rookie, Fan Jam is your opportunity to hone your shooting skills, snap selfies with the Championship Trophy, snag giveaways, and more. The Fan Jam is an excellent way for fans of all ages to gear up for the excitement and exhilaration of college basketball. The San Antonio Public Library is hosting a Winter Fest this Saturday from 11am - 1pm at the Pan Am Branch Library off of Pyron. Bring your whole family for The Nightmare Before Christmas Loteria and making your own snow and slime. S'mores and hot chocolate will be available while supplies last.
Parents, we have a few reminders regarding pick up and drop off. Keep in mind that the school doors open at 7:15. Any students dropped off before then will be unsupervised by an adult. Also, we have had several incidents with students playing with footballs in the morning and chasing them into the street. As a result, any balls seen in the morning will be confiscated and parents will be called to pick them up. During dismissal, please be sure to use the crosswalk areas when walking up to the school doors. We have had several close calls with people crossing in front of moving traffic. Lastly, please remember that the school drive thru and parking lot is a phone-free zone. Thank you for your understanding and help with keeping our students safe during pick up and drop off!

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? On Sunday, the San Antonio Public Library is hosting Paws and Pages at McCreless Library. Children can practice their developing literacy skills by reading aloud individually to a therapy dog, which will be accompanied by the animal handler. Recommended for young readers 5 and older.

December 9 - 13 is Computer Science Education Week! Harlandale is excited to invite families to participate in Cyberdefender, a cybersecurity card game for all ages! No experience is necessary. See the flyer for more details.
Harlandale Middle School would like to extend an invitation for our Adams students to join them for their Literacy Night on December 11 from 5-6:30. They will have photos with Santa, food, and Book Fair for families of all ages to enjoy.
Attention families: Adams is currently experiencing phone and internet outages. We are expecting that these issues may continue tomorrow as well. The district is aware of the problem and we are doing all that we can to get this taken care of in a timely manner. We appreciate your patience!

On Tuesday, our 4th graders visited Mission San Jose and Mission Espada as part of their social studies curriculum. They were having such a good time learning, they didn't have time for many pictures!
Our Harlandale ISD Police Department is hosting their annual Christmas Toy Drive. If you'd like to donate a new, unwrapped toy, you can drop those off at any campus or the HISD Police Department from now until December 13th.
