Reminder! Harlandale's Neighbors Together event is happening TODAY, Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Harlandale Memorial Stadium from 5-7 PM!

October 9th will be an Early Release day to give teachers the opportunity to schedule parent conferences. Teachers should be reaching out to get those scheduled.

This week we had our first Golden Ticket Raffle! Students earn golden tickets by practicing safety, respect, and responsibility. Each ticket gives them a chance to spin our prize wheel! This week's winners were Ceriyah Castillo in 2nd grade, Serenity Serafín in 3rd grade, and Samilyn Gonzales in 4th grade. Ceriyah won lunch with an administrator, Serenity got to pick a prize from our treasure box, and Samilyn won the opportunity to be 1st in line at lunch every day this coming week! Congratulations to our winners! We look forward to our next raffle winners this coming week! ¡Esta semana tuvimos nuestra primera Rifa de Boletos Dorados! Los estudiantes obtienen boletos dorados practicando seguridad, respeto y responsabilidad. ¡Cada boleto les da la oportunidad de hacer girar nuestra rueda de premios! This week, we actively participated in 'Start With Hello Week,' a national campaign focused on teaching empathy and empowering students to address social isolation through three key steps: noticing someone who is alone, reaching out to help, and starting with a simple 'hello.' The program encourages students to be mindful of peers who may need extra acknowledgment and recognition. Throughout the week, our students, teachers, and staff participated by dressing according to daily themes and engaging in various related activities. Esta semana, participamos activamente en 'Start With Hello Week', una campaña nacional centrada en enseñar empatía y empoderar a los estudiantes para abordar el aislamiento social a través de tres pasos clave: notar a alguien que está solo, extendiendo la mano para ayudar, y comenzando con un simple "hola". El programa anima a los estudiantes a ser conscientes de sus compañeros que pueden necesitar reconocimiento y reconocimiento adicionales. A lo largo de la semana, nuestros estudiantes, maestros y personal participaron vistiéndose de acuerdo con los temas diarios y participando en diversas actividades relacionadas.

Mustang Parents! If you are still looking for after school care for your child(ren), the Wesley Center provides after school care from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. They also provide transportation from Gilbert to their building after school, homework assistance, activities and dinner. If you would like to inquire about getting your child registered for this program, please call 210-469-4191. ¡Padres Mustang! Over the past week, Gilbert has had some amazing community partners give to our students and campus! We received a donation of dolls from Linda Pearson and the Scooby Van which were distributed to all Pre-K through 3rd grade students! Some students gave their dolls to their moms and grandmas! We also received a donation of books from Coleman's Corner for two of our new teachers, Mr. Resendis and Ms. G Rodriguez, to add to their classroom libraries. In addition, Coleman's corner will be providing books for our free book library in front of our school on a monthly basis. Lastly, the Texas Retired Teachers Association donated books for students! We are participating in Start with Hello Week from September 23rd to the 27th. During this time, students will engage in various activities and opportunities aimed at fostering a welcoming and inclusive school culture. Mustang Parents- You are invited to a free screening and panel discussion on a documentary called Screenagers. This event will take place on Tuesday, September 17th from 5:00-7:30 pm at the McCollum High School auditorium. The documentary discusses youth mental health in the digital age. Following the movie, a panel discussion will be held to identify strategies and resources that parents can use to help their children navigate mental health challenges.

The Harlandale ISD Grandparent Support Group is for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. The group meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Meetings will take place at the Morrill Center located at 5200 South Flores. It's a great place to learn about resources and meet other grandparents. The first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 18th from 8:30-9:30 am.

Mustang Parents! Harlandale ISD will host it's first Mobile Food Pantry of the school year on Tuesday, September 17th at Harlandale Memorial Stadium. Food distribution will begin at 9 am or as soon as the truck has been unloaded. Food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and only while supplies last.

Thanks to all of the Mustang Grandparents and family members who came to our Grandparents Day Lunches this week! It was fantastic to see everyone! We hope you all know how important you are to our students' success! Happy Grandparents Day to all!
