Today is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, and we are especially grateful for the dedicated drivers who do more than get students from point A to B—they help deliver opportunity! Recently, several of our drivers got a chance to tour our Career and Technical Education Center (CTE) at Carroll Bell and saw firsthand the impact their work makes. From welding labs to HVAC classrooms, to computer programming and cybersecurity labs, and even dental and barbering training, they witnessed how students step into futures full of promise—and realized the daily role they play in helping them get there. Thank you to all our school bus drivers for your commitment, care and the pride you take in supporting our students’ journeys. #HarlandaleLegacy

Join us in congratulating the Harlandale High School Million Dollar Band for making school history at this year’s UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation! Just recently, for the first time ever, the band was split into three separate ensembles—Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Concert Band—each made up of about 40 students. All three went to earn first division ratings in both concert performance and sight reading! Combined with their first division in marching earlier this year, the band secured the coveted UIL Sweepstakes! Way to go, Harlandale High School Million Dollar Band! #HarlandaleLegacy

Multiple middle schools hit the court last week for the Special Olympics basketball tournament—and what a time it was! From high-fives to buzzer beaters, fun was had by all. Shoutout to Terrell Wells for taking home the championship title with a 13-10 win in the final game! Gillette students got a once-in-a-lifetime experience last Friday, attending the NCAA Final Four Fan Fest!

Join us in congratulating McCollum High_HISD junior Elijah Perez, whose artwork was selected for "Sí, Se Puede!", a student art exhibit honoring civil rights leader Dolores Huerta’s 95th birthday! Elijah’s piece will be on display at MACRI’s Visitor Center (2123 Buena Vista St, San Antonio, TX 78207) from March 3 to April 18, 2025. Congratulations, Elijah! #HarlandaleLegacy

A couple of our schools found creative ways to motivate students as they gear up for STAAR testing. At Harlandale Middle School, students, staff and parents teamed up to create motivational posters that now hang throughout the campus, encouraging students to do their best! Then at Gilbert Elementary, students from all grades participated in a spirited pep rally. Even our Harlandale High School cheerleaders and football players joined in to show their support and cheer on the younger students.
