In this article on the San Antonio Report, Harlandale School Board Trustee Norma Cavazos takes us on a journey to celebrate the power of community and the spirit of Kingsborough Ridge.
"Here on the South Side, preserving and celebrating our cultural wealth and recognizing the importance of imparting cultural awareness matters to the people who live here," she said. "By incorporating cultural experiences into the curriculum and promoting community involvement, Harlandale ISD nurtures well-rounded individuals who are not only academically prepared but also deeply connected to their roots."

🗣️ Parents and guardians, please see the fliers below for registering your child for our Immunization Drive, which will take place during our Back to School Bash on July 29!
You may register your child online at healthyUexpress.com or by calling 210-358-7020.
Online registration steps:
1. Go to www.healthyuexpress.com
2. Click “Schedule a Mobile Primary Care Appointment”
3. Type of visit: Immunizations
4. Mobile site location: HISD
5. Find Sosa Family Engagement Center
6. Select appointment time
7. Begin registration to secure spot
Registrations:
- We require a minimum of 10 patients pre-registered online or via phone call in order to confirm the event. If we fall short of registrations we can discuss other options or rescheduling.
- There are limited spots, once these spots are filled we will close registrations. Please urge parents to register their child online or to call 210-358-7020 to secure an appointment before they book up.
Immunization Records:
- Parents or guardians are asked to bring their child’s vaccine record(s) so we can ensure they are not over/under vaccinated. If the patient is 18 years or older, they may bring their own vaccine records and attend the appointment alone.
- Once the patient is vaccinated, our team will provide you with a copy of a stamped and updated vaccine record.
- University Health follows CDC Guidelines in regards to vaccinations.
Cost for Vaccines:
- For INSURED students, we are required to bill their insurance for vaccines. We will verify if their insurance is “In-network”, once they register online. If a patient is “Out of Network”, our team is responsible for contacting the students parent/guardian to make them aware and get confirmation if the parent/guardian wants to proceed with the visit.
- For UNINSURED students, we have a Vaccines for Children’s Grant (VFC), that covers vaccines for children 18years old and younger. Students automatically qualify for the grant if they are uninsured, are enrolled in Medicaid, CHIP and/or Care link. The state that provides the grant does charge an admin fee of $13.75/vaccine, however this charge is NOT required to be paid at the time of visit.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding any charges associated with the visit, please call 210-358-7020.
