The Wright Elementary Garden Club members and sponsors were fascinated as they watched the metamorphosis (life cycle) of Monarch butterflies. Within three weeks, the students observed each caterpillar larva feasting on milkweed before transforming into a chrysalis, and eventually into a Monarch butterfly. The butterflies were released in hopes that they would continue their journey and help spawn future generations. The equipment and larvae were provided by Blooming With Birdie and Rainbow Gardens of San Antonio.

Book Fair is coming to the Wright library! Book Fair will be from October 27-31st. We are so excited ! This year, the book fair will be cashless. We will not be accepting any cash, however you can purchase books using cards, cash apps or by setting up an e-Wallet for your child.
An e-Wallet allows you to place a designated amount of money on your child's account to spend at the book fair. You can share their e-Wallet with friends and family as well so they can donate money if they wish. Set up for the e-Wallets begin next week! I will send out the link and more information then.
The book fair will be open on October 29th from 5-6:30 during our Trunk or Treat Literacy Night.

Ms. Rodriguez's had a taste of Greece today! Her students tasted sourdough bread dipped in olive oil which they learned was an important contribution from the city-state of Athens, and grapes, like the symbol of Dionysus from Greek mythology.

The Wright Elementary Garden Club has been working closely with Texas A&M AgriLife through their "Learn, Grow, Eat, & Go!" program. The program's staff and local partners, such as the San Antonio Botanical Garden, have been extensively helping the Garden Club students and its sponsors to expand Wright Elementary's garden and to grow fruits and vegetables. The students are also participating in weekly lessons to learn about food preparation and nutrition through taste tests using freshly-made recipes!
