It’s National School Counseling Week and we’re shining a spotlight on the amazing Harlandale ISD counselors who support, guide and inspire our students every day!
First up is Ms. Roxane Lopez from Schulze Elementary!
Ms. Roxane Lopez grew up as a migrant student, splitting each school year between Texas and Michigan. Her unique experiences inspired her to pursue a career in education and school counseling, having witnessed firsthand the profound impact a compassionate counselor can have on a student’s future. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas State University and her master’s from the University of Illinois in Chicago.
Now in her fifth year as a counselor with Harlandale ISD, Ms. Lopez finds fulfillment in creating a safe, welcoming space where students feel seen, heard, and supported. One of her most rewarding moments is seeing the relief on a student’s face after an individual session—when they realize they have someone who genuinely listens and understands.
Fun fact: Ms. Lopez loves Latin and country dancing, and has been learning to play the piano for the last five years!
Stay tuned as we celebrate members of our amazing counseling team!
